Derwent Reservoir on the 75th anniversary of Operation Chastise

An hour or two before I took this, Squadron Leader George Leonard "Johnny" Johnson, the last surviving airman from Operation Chastise, the "Dam Busters" raid, 75 years ago today was flown over Derwent reservoir and dam , where they practiced, in one of the two remaining Lancaster Bombers that can fly. It was a real shame they weren't able to fly yesterday for the crowds as planned and didn't advertise the revised plan but it was still awesome that the old boy got to do the flight for what will surely be the final time.
It was nice and quiet here today and so taking a moment to remember the brave heroes who took part in the historic raid.
